The Chosen Photograph

Tony Howell used a variety of compositional styles when he took his many photographs of church windows. When I first saw this image, I felt the passion of those who made the stained glass, because Tony Howell has captured the many vibrant colours used in telling the story. Tony Howell did not use the flash because he didn't want the audience to see any reflection of the flash in the windows and he makes use of natural light outside which makes the window stand out from the unlit walls. He made use of the contrast so that the window is colourful and the background is black. It is full of many patterns and it made me look twice discovering new things each time. It's subtle, bold, colourful and dramatic. This image is portrait style. Tony Howell takes photographs of windows in day time because the daylight makes the window bright and clear.
